Larry Coryell, Badi Assad & John Abercrombie

Larry Coryell, Badi Assad & John Abercrombie – Three Guitars – Live New Morning Paris (Official) The Duo of Ralph Towner and John Abercrombie was one of my favorites years ago. The musicality was intense. So I run across this trio featuring Larry Coryell, Badi Assad & John Abercrombie and I figure… this has got to be good… right? Well yes, even though Badi Assad is not so much the soloist as Larry and John in this video, I love that […]

    Mark O’Connor- Dixie Breakdown 1975

1975 Winfield National Flatpicking Championship. Mark O’Connor… a 14 year old kid gets on stage. Proceeds to flatpick the Dixie Breakdown…. no one has heard flatpicking like this before (unless you knew of Mark back then). Be prepared to get blown away. That’s the good news. The bad part of this video is…. it’s not a video. But then again .. lucky to at least have this recorded. This was a mind altering performance for anyone that played bluegrass at […]

Mark O’Connor with the David Grisman Quintet: Dawg’s Rag

I can recall the first time I heard the David Grisman Quintet.. It was at a bluegrass party and a friend of mine just bought the new album. We put it on and  …. well WE’RE BLOWN AWAY! Talk about a life changing moment in music! Of course… had to have the album. It was played over and over again. The sound and tone of the acoustic instruments was just so beautiful, and the compositions just so exciting you know, […]

There’s also the italian mandolin player Martino Coppo.” Well Chiara, got to say this is very nice playing, and I bet […]

Eric Henderson: From Segovia to The Rolling Stones

Patrick Lane over at our facebook page spotted this video and wrote the following: “Bob, I don’t know if you ever highlighted Eric Henderson before. I had a chance to take a few lessons from him years ago and he is just a wonderful musician. I have not kept in touch with him, but seeing Edgar Cruz play Bohemian Rhapsody made me think of him. Here is one of my favorites he did, Rolling Stones – Paint it Black” Thanks […]

  • Arthur Smith – Acoustic Guitar Boogie

Arthur Smith – Acoustic Guitar Boogie

We’ve had our share of Tommy Emmanuel vids here at Acoustic Guitar Videos.. And one of the great Tommy vids features his incredibly hot version of Arthur Smith’s “Guitar Boogie.” Well here’s the original (or at least the original artist) performing the song on the acoustic.. Arthur is of course older here and has lost some of his chops… But still great guitar pickin’ nonetheless. Below is another vid of Arthur when he was much younger… enjoy!

  • Chet Atkins Tries His Hands At Banjo

Chet Atkins Tries His Hands At Banjo

Dolly Parton & Chet Atkins (on banjo) – Black Smoke’s a-Risin’ If you are a Chet Atkins fan, I think you will enjoy this video of him and Dolly Parton playing some old time country with a song called Black Smake’s a Risin’. And I think you will also enjoy a little blast at what Chet sounds like playing a banjo. You just had to figure that a ole country boy like Chet had to have known how to play […]
