Doc Watson Playing An Arnold Jimmie Rodgers Weymann Guitar

Doc Watson Playing An Arnold Jimmie Rodgers Weymann Guitar

Since the passing of Doc Watson, it seems I can’t get enough of anything he does, which includes recordings, performance videos, and now a tryout of an Arnold Jimmie Rodgers Weymann Guitar.

This guitar is not in my opinion something that Doc would have regularly used, as it just doesn’t have the sound conducive for flapicking. But it does sound great on those Jimmie Rogers style songs and,,, guess Doc knew that since that’s what he’s playing here. This Weymann guitar would also sound good for fingerpicking, as it has the body design that really projects the notes.

I also think the guitar has light gauge strings and that is gonna cause some issues for Doc’s powerful right hand. (almost sounds like he’s gonna snap some strings right off the neck!).

Having Doc try out one of your guitars and making a video is something that can’t hurt… after all, it’s Doc.. and that’s probably the best the guitar will ever sound.
