Silent Night- Basic fingerstyle to semi- advanced instrumental.

In this first Video 1 of this Silent Night Series (video above), we are going to learn a very FUNDAMENTAL Fingerstyle/rhythm pattern that is intended as  accompaniment to sing to.
Silent Night is a very simple song which contains the G, C and D Chords.

The fingerpicking pattern we are using is in 3/4 Waltz time. Learn this pattern and you will have the ability to apply it to almost any song in this time signature.

Included in this Silent Night Series are PDF download of the chords, words as well as tab. A fingerpicking flow chart which shows what fingers we use on the right hand, the rhythm of the tune, quick referral of the strings we are plucking and the counting is also included.

Video 1 start with learning the fingersyle rhythm pattern- perfect for those of you that want to sing. Video 2 and 3 are play alongs (3 being from the players perspective if that helps. Videos 4 and 5 are the more advanced, where we learn how to play the rhythm and melody at the same time. Lesson 2 and onward is going additionally consist of the melody notes with somewhat even more intense chord voicings.

It’s important not to skip video 1 (2 or 3) if you just want to play this instrumentally.

Hey Jim, glad you like the camera angle. I have been on maintenance all day with this site and just was on Silent Night when you commented..

      Happy pickin’ !! bob

The perspective of the guitar view with split screen with the tabs is a bit confusing as the guitar view appears upside down, although I play left handed, would still prefer to see and follow the guitar with it the normal way up,
but thanks for the video Bob

    • Robert Harris

Hey Guy, yea, being a left hander I would imagine it was already difficult just to learn from the right sided lessons, and now this.
Most of the left handers have said the same thing, but it was worth a try. Happy pickin’ !! bob

in your video you point to the top corner to download tabs etc. But I do not having anything on the top to click on for your down loads. What am i doing wrong?

Bob, are you still doing tutorials on songs?
I certainly hope so. Your a very good teacher and your format is excellent. Presently, I’m working on Silent Night and it actually makes sense to me and I’m able to play it slowly. Baby steps. I sent an email to you earlier, but found this one as well.
    Hope your doing well.
