Frank Vignola and Joe Ascione : Guitar + Music Stand Duo

Thank you Aleksandr, this is some awesome playing by Frank Vignola on guitar and percussionist Joe Ascione who is playing what looks like a music stand. I haven’t been to one of their shows but perhaps he’s got something else on stage and just warming up with one.

I first met Frank Vignola at a show He/ I performed at called the Legends of the Jazz Violin, and I want to say I thought it was in Albany or Troy NY… can’t remember.  He was playing for Mark O’Connor and I was with Vassar Clements. That was an incredible evening and the last time I saw Frank (hey, I don’t get out much these days).  Frank would later appear with Les Paul at his once a week gig in the city.  Frank is now just about everywhere, as one of the big names in the gypsy jazz styles of guitar.
