Dicky Betts, Greg Allman Play Acoustics

If you were into guitars back in the 70’s and 80’s, you couldn’t help but be aware of the Allman Brothers band that also featured guitarist Dicky Betts.

The harmony guitar melodies they played were a trademark sound that influenced many southern rock bands. Not only influential but, major hit instrumental songs that you still hear on the radio and the media today.

But how does that stuff (slow southern rock harmony guitar leads) sound on acoustic?

I was able to dig up this studio session video- a brief moment of Greg, Dicky and Dan Toler playing “Mellisa.” Later (after they have some tech problems to address), Greg goes into a version of “Come & Go Blues.”

What do you think? Does this style of southern rock lead guitar work well on acoustic?
