Miche – Playing All The Right Stuff- UpSide Down
Miche – Can You Spare Some Change (Original)
“Can You Spare Some Change?” is a track from my “Cafe Vignettes” CD. When I lived near DC, I came across a homeless mate who was selling a local magazine. I bought one of course. I was then struck with the notion of strolling the streets myself asking for change. This song came from that thought.”
Miche Fambro found our facebook page and sent in this video.
Well Well, quite the performance! What a voice! What a guitarist!
I’m looking around and trying to figure out what category to put this in.
Just as I’m about to select something, I change my mind and pick another.
Well, Miche seems to incorporate a lot of styles, sometimes reminding me of
strait ahead jazz, then cool jazz, then modern percussive, then flamenco.
Well whatever category, it really doesn’t matter. Miche is so musical and quite
the technician on the guitar, whatever style you want to call this.
And it shouldn’t take you long either to realize he’s left handed playing a left
handed guitar (well, what’s the big deal you ask?).
Look at the strings, they’re backwards…
So when you’re watching him play, it’s actually easy to see what chords he’s doing because the vantage point is what we would see looking at our own guitar (if indeed you are right handed). But think of all the technical things that are now suddenly backwards as well for the right hand. Instead of his thumb on bass notes, it’s got to be the fingers. And when Miche is going up on an ascending scale, it’s moving in the opposite direction. How confusing! But if you learned it like this, well it sure doesn’t seem to be any big deal to Miche, as the music is just flowing and flowing..
