Jon Gomm: Putting Drummers Out Of Business
John Hill recommend this video and writes the following:
“Informative about percussive guitar technique. Over time though you’ll beat your guitar to death, note all the scuffing on the front.”
Thanks John for the share and oh by the way-
John Hill is one of guitar gurus over at our facebook site that has a ton of factual knowledge that he shares with us. When this site starts getting too big for me to handle alone (it’s coming soon), I’m gonna ask him and a few others including guitarzan Jim Weaver to help me out with this.
Okay, back to Jon Gomm.
Well…. I’m gonna be honest here…
I just finished watching this video and I’m exhausted!
Not only do I not want to decreasing the value of my Herringbone, but I primarily enjoy playing with other musicians. If I start doing that, I think I’m gonna get some strange looks…
Nonetheless you got to admit, it is just so impressive..
and Jon Gomm does it as good if not better than anyone else around.
Now the only problem is, he’s putting a lot of drummers and percussionists out of business. Who needs them when you can accomplish it all yourself?
Here’s the YouTube write up on this vid and Jon Gomm:
“Jon Gomm is an acoustic singer-songwriter with an incredible virtuoso guitar style, where he uses one acoustic guitar to create drum sounds, basslines and sparkling melodies all at the same time, and combining styles from blues and jazz to rock and pop. The emphasis is still on the soulful vocals and songwriting however, and his original material is influenced by everything from Robert Johnson to Radiohead.”
