Dimitri Illarionov: Classically Classical from Russia

Here’s a video by guitarist Dimitri Illarionov entitled ‘Virtuosos of Guitar 2008’ festival, that was held in Moscow.

He’s done quite a lot of extensive touring which does include the USA.

The piece is entitled ‘Valse en skaï’ by Roland Dyens.

How come you never hear much about musicians from Russia?
There’s got to be some great players there too…
but I’m not talking about just classical nor just about Dimitri Illarionov

For example, who would be the Russian equivalent to say Jeff Beck (sorry, I know that’s a reach).
