Caleb Hawley: Can’t Make The Cut, American Idol Audition

My friend Bruce Jepson asked me if I could post a Caleb Hawley vid…

Well yes, of course Bruce and thanks for the request. This guy is not only an excellent singer but a fine guitarist as well. In fact, there’s not too many out there better.

So when I went to look for a vid to post, I found that there’s a bunch of Caleb Hawley videos…. perhaps this is not the best one. But it was entertaining.

This particular video takes place at  the NY/NJ American Idol auditions.

Guess what?

Caleb Hawley didn’t even make it in the top 24!

Some of the angry comments over at YouTube suggests that he was a big hit that day.

To be honest, Caleb Hawley is not American Idol material in my opinion. They want someone who scores high on the vocal gymnastics and weighs 90 pounds…, someone that kids aged 13 and under are gonna want a poster of to hang in their rooms.

In my life, I’ve might have watched exactly 1 minute 10 seconds of American Idol and I promise, that will never happen again. The only way I will watch that  show is at gunpoint (or then again, I might choose the bullet). If you gave me the choice of 10 minutes of American Idol or elective root canal on a perfectly healthy tooth without anesthesia, I’m goin’ with the dentist.

So, why would a talented musician such as Claeb subject himself to this? The only thing I can think of … it might have not even mattered to him about the winning part, and just wanted to perform. And from the audience reaction well, he went over big.

I know since you’re here that you either play acoustic guitar or are a fan of it. So here’s a question… Do you watch American Idol?  come on, be honest….
