“Born in Berlin, Germany 1989, classical guitarist Katrin Endrikat has been studying and performing throughout Germany, Canada and the United States. Since fall semester 2012 Katrin is a graduate student at Yale University with a full scholarship and fellowship in USA. She currently studies under Prof. Benjamin Verdery.
In August 2012 the young classical guitarist graduated with highest marks from the Music Academy “Hochschule für Musik Detmold”. She studied four years with Prof. Dale Kavanagh and Prof. Thomas Kirchhoff to master her outstanding musicianship.
She began her musical path as a very young child and found her love for the guitar when she was just 9 years old.
Always striving to become a musician, in 2001 Katrin got accepted to continue her education at the special high school for music for gifted musicians in Berlin “Carl Phillip Emanuel Bach Gymnasium”.
In 2004 her family moved to Canada and she spent several years in Montréal and Toronto until her high school graduation.
For her musical accomplishments during 2009-2011 Katrin received a government scholarship in Germany, “OWL Studienfonds”.
Throughout the years Katrin has won many prizes in National competitions, such as “Jugend Musiziert” (Berlin), the Lachine Youth Competition (Montreal), National Music Festival (Quebec), the Lakeshore Music Competition (Montreal), the Rotary Music Festival, Peel Music Festival (both in Toronto) and “Lions Musikpreis” (Germany). The sheer discipline to perfect the classical guitar in this manner requires what I call a “life devotion.” It’s obvious that Katrin has dedicated herself in full to this lifestyle.
