Jovanny Parvedy and Pete Mc Grane teamed up and formed JP guitar duo. Pete plays a Spanish guitar, and Jovanny an acoustic guitar. Pete is from Dublin and Jovanny from Reunion, but they are based in Paris. They have many interesting videos in  their youtube channel. In this one they brilliantly arranged and play “Happy” the famous song by Pharrell Willliams. The outcome is quite enjoyable. By Miche Archetto

    Ivan Pesut – Farewell Song

Here’s Guitarist Ivan Pesut from Croatia with a very interesting video that features “duet playing”… but the other player is himself. What a great job of cinematography here with both Ivans playing in the same room… even having what looks to be eye contact and interaction… Now we’ve featured Ivan here before with a song called “Spring Break” which is also definitely worth watching if you like this kind of guitar style Ivan Pesut- Spring Break What I am going to […]

Tommy Emmanuel- Hit The Road Jack- Featuring Igor Presnyakov

Tommy Emmanuel- Hit The Road Jack- Performed duo style with guitar great Igor Presnyakov. As you may already know, Tommy Emmanuel is considered by many people as the “heavyweight champion” of the acoustic guitar. Yea, of course there’s a lot of great guitarist in the world, but pound for pound as I call it- Tommy is able to do so much- master of many styles, fingerpicking, flatpicking, jazz, solo, country, rock, covers, pretty much you name it… he’s got it […]

  • Tom Lumen And Tommy Emmanuel- Backstage

Tom Lumen And Tommy Emmanuel- Backstage

    Q. What would be just about the best thing any acoustic guitarist could do in their career? A. Play a gig with Tommy Emmanuel. Well, that’s exactly what Hungarian guitarist Tom Lumen did last week during Tommy Emmanuel’s Hungarian tour. Tom Lumen joined him for two shows… the first night in Pécs where they played two songs together, the first was a Hungarian folk song entitled ‘Kis Kece Lanyom’ and one of Tommy Emmanuel’s tunes called “I’ve Always Thought Of […]

  • Tommy and Phil Emmanuel: Brother’s in Rhythm

Here’s the Youtube description: “Tommy and Phil giving a clinic in France in 2001. They play “Guitar Boogie” and demonstrate the importance of listening to each other when you play together.” Now that’s what I call communication! Doesn’t hurt that they’re brothers…. After the Guitar Boogie is over, Tommy talks a little about what he concentrates on while his brother is soloing, mainly staying in a different register to complement what the other player is doing. Hey, great advice and, […]

Antoine Dufour & Tommy Gauthier: Jerry’s Breakdown

“Canadian Fingerstyle champion, Antoine Dufour having a bit of fun with Tommy Gauthier on his signature Stonebridge model guitar.” Jerry’s Breakdown has always been one of my favorite songs on guitar, and there’s a lot of great country fingerstyle guitarists that have performed this piece lights out (of course, author course Jerry’s Reed  played the you know what out of it). Now I’m not going to say that this is the most incredible version of Jerry’s Breakdown that I ever […]

Bruskers Duo: Soundtracks on acoustic guitars

By Miche Archetto: Here is the Bruskers Duo playing a theme that is very famous in Italy: the soundtrack of a TV series of about Pinocchio produced by the Italian national TV in the 70s. In their official website I’ve found that “Eugenio Polacchini and Matteo Minozzi, the Bruskers Guitar Duo, have been defined “two leading figures in the motley world of guitar” and “a source of inspiration for guitarists”. Molded by the classical (Eugenio) and modern (Matteo) music worlds, they use […]

Andreas Kapsalis & Goran Ivanovic: A Unique Guitar Duo

“The Imposter” is a song composed by guitarist Andreas Kapsalis Wow. What a way to start out 2014! This guitar duo of Andreas Kapsalis & Goran Ivanovic was difficult for me to put a category to, cause it is a combination of a lot of different styles mixed together- certainly this is very unique and musical. I was blown away by this composition and had to listen to it over and over. Just great! “Cheers2011 Canadian Guitar Festival The Andreas Kapsalis & […]

  • Les Paul At The Iridium With Tommy Emmanuel

Les Paul At The Iridium With Tommy Emmanuel

You got to give Les Paul a lot of credit. For a lot of things… related to the guitar and recording of course. Take for example his invention of the “Chipmunks.” Not too many people know that his sped up tape machine was responsible for that. At the end of his career, Les played a gig every Monday night in New York City at the “Iridium,” a somewhat small but always packed house that ended up being a place that […]

Richie Kotzen: No Fear To Change

By Miche Archetto: Here is rock singer and guitarist Richie Kotzen playing his song called “Fear” with an acoustic guitar. Richie is well known for his electric guitar shredding technique, but on youtube you can find many videos where he prefers to go acoustic. Actually it is interesting that, according to this interview, in 2008 he decided to abandon picks completely and to abruptly switch to fingerpicking. At the end of the interview he says that “losing the pick made […]

Los Indios Tabajaras: More or less like a piano

By Miche Archetto: Mussapere and Herundy were respectively the 3rd and 4th son of one of the chiefs of the Tabajara indios tribe, in the northeast of Brasil. At the end of the 30′s they found in the forest a classical guitar left by some expedition. After a while they realized that it was a musical instrument and started playing it without any formal training. They decided to venture in Rio de Janeiro where they  aroused the sympathy of the […]

Ewan Dobson: Left Hand Of Doom

Ewan Dobson featuring Zack B. – “Autumn Red” – Acoustic Metal   If you haven’t noticed by now, look at Ewan’s left hand. It’s not only giant, but extremely coordinated. And look at the pinky. It’s sick if you ask me. He’s playing in positions and in a key that is not possible for most guitarists (yea, I can play this song but, need a capo to do it in this key). Ewan of course is no slouch with his […]

Trevor Gordon Hall – Bach to the Future (Guitar Duet)

Candyrat recording artist Trevor Gordon Hall is one fine guitarist… But what’s better than listening to him play? Getting to hear two of him… yea that’s right.. The studio is a wonderful place to be able to create and shape the music you write and in this case, Trevor’s composition entitled “Bach to the Future” (obviously inspired by Bach) required a second guitar part. Having worked on a ton of Bach myself, the sound of the two interweaving parts are very […]
