Roy Clark – Malaguena, from the “Odd Couple’ TV Show

Back in 1971, Roy Clark and the Hee Haw Show was in it’s last year but still very popular (at least in my mind). The show featured Roy Clark, Buck Owens and a whole pile of characters depicting the comedy and music of Nashville and the Southern USA.
It was one of my favorite shows that had me mesmerized from the first time I heard the opening theme. Bobby Thompson for those of you that don’t know was the banjo player on that intro song.

Roy Clark, who also plays banjo really is first, a guitarist.. This episode of the Odd Couple TV show which aired in 1971, had one 11 year old kid bouncing off the walls to see one of my guitar heros on another TV show!

We just featured Liona Boyd’s version of Malaguena
You are welcome to compare if you’d like.

Here’s a question for you… Which version do you prefer?

Or do you know of a version that you would like to share with us that we should know about?
