Nuno Bettencourt: Acoustic Experiment

Nuno Bettencourt is a fine electric guitarist, well known for being one of the founders and leaders of the hard-rock band Extreme. Here he plays “Midnight Express” on a semi-acoustic guitar. I’ve found most of this performance quite convincing, but the fast parts where Nuno picks the strings in a very shallow manner, producing an annoying scratching noise. Probably this effect is also enhanced by a bad equalization of the guitar. Anyway, his impressing picking technique, that works perfectly with heavily processed electric guitars, seems not to suit very well an acoustic gear.
