David Grier: Capos Up The Blackberry Blossom

Here’s a video that was filmed at David Grier’s solo concert at the IBMA 2008 in Nashville.

If you are familiar with this song Blackberry Blossom, you know it’s in the key of G and not played in A like David is doing it here.

So why would he do such a thing?

Well to be honest, I can’t really think of a very good reason, other than just perhaps it might be a little easier to play? Another likely reason would be he just didn’t feel like taking his capo off from a prior song. I don’t think the reason would be that he doesn’t know it’s in G, nor would it be because he thought this song sounded better in A. If you have any thoughts, would love to hear your opinion.
