Blood – The Middle East ( mree cover )

A friend of mine shared this video with me and said- “You gotta check this artist named Mree out and put her on the site- she is amazing.”

In this video, Mree is performing a cover song entitled Blood by “The Middle East.”

Well I’ve never heard this song Blood, and last I checked, The Middle East was an area of the world that seems to have its share of sand and problems… certainly didn’t know there was a band by the same name. But don’t pay any attention to the man whose head is stuck in the sound hole of an acoustic guitar, as I think maybe I ought to listen to some pop radio for about a week (or as long as I can take it) to get caught up with what’s happening now.

So I turn this video on and I’m gonna be honest- I’m not so impressed. Yea, I’m looking at all the wonderful comments and thinking… these people are crazy…

But instead of moving on, I decided to be fair and listen..

And you know what? I changed my mind- I’m impressed, and for a few reasons…

Yea, Mree is no Manelli Jamal on the guitar but, at least she is smooth and steady.

As the video went on, it got better-  all the overdubs she did with her voice, then another guitar be it electric, the production was stunningly simple but very well done. And as a producer, simple is not so easy unless you have a real good artist.

I don’t know the career status of Mree but, she will go places if given the chance. The only criticism I have is sometimes I have a hard time understanding her words. Small issue really, just a little bit more attention to it will be all that’s needed.
